Edmonton police are asking for the public’s help to identify a male suspect, believed to have assaulted a woman in a southwest parking lot.

Police said officers were called Sunday, November 27, at about 4:45 p.m., to a parking lot in the Windermere shopping centre near 62 Avenue and Currents Drive. It was reported a woman had been assaulted by a man in the parking lot.

It’s believed the incident occurred as the woman got out of her vehicle, which was parked between the Shell gas station and Staples. The male suspect approached her, before allegedly slapping her in the face and screaming obscenities.

The suspect is described as:

  • Thin
  • Caucasian male
  • Between 50 and 55-years-old
  • Between 183 cm (6’) and 190.5 cm (6’3”) tall
  • Black hair
  • Brown eyes

The suspect was seen driving away in a full-size, older model grey van, believed to be a Ford E250 – which had a fake licence plate on the front with the word ‘RIPPER’, the vehicle had a sliding door on the passenger side.

Police said it’s believed a number of customers were in the area at the time. Anyone with information is asked to call the Edmonton Police Service non-emergency line at 780-423-4567 or #377 on a mobile phone.
