Edmonton police investigating a vicious assault in the city’s southwest are trying to track down a witness believed who stepped in to stop the incident, in an effort to gather more information on what happened.

Police said on Wednesday, August 12, a 28-year-old woman was walking near the Blackmud Creek Ravine with her dog at about midnight when she was approached by two male suspects in a parking lot near Bowness Way and Blackmore Wynd.

It’s alleged the suspects requested money from the complainant, before one of the suspects pushed her to the ground and punched her repeatedly in the face.

The suspects fled, after a concerned citizen ran towards them yelling at them to stop.

Investigators have no identifying information about the witness, except that his first name may be Brad.

Anyone with information that could help police in their investigation is asked to call the Edmonton Police Service non-emergency line at 780-423-4567 or #377 on a mobile phone.

Anonymous tips can be submitted to Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
