Edmonton Police said a man in his 40s was facing a number of charges, after a home in the city’s downtown was searched, and prescription drugs found inside.

Police said on Wednesday, August 24, at about 6:30 p.m., officers from the Downtown Beats and Tactical Section searched a home in the area of 92 Street and 110A Avenue.

Investigators seized 344 prescription pills from the house – the drugs included lorazepam, oxycodone, dilaudid and hydromorph contin, with a total street value of $10,320, in addition to 37 full medication bottles of non-controlled pills.

Police also seized a stolen laptop, body armour, a prohibited push-dagger and a knife, numerous empty pill bottles and drug trafficking score sheets.

The suspect in the investigation, Jules Bimazubute, 46, was arrested outside the home earlier Wednesday afternoon after police saw him participate in a drug deal.

When he was taken into custody, police said he had 63 dilaudid pills, worth an estimated $1,890. Police also found 100 oxycodone pills valued at about $3,000 when they searched a vehicle related to the investigation.

Bimazubute is facing four counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of stolen property under $5,000, possession of an offensive weapon dangerous to the public, possession of body armour without a valid permit and unauthorized possession of a prohibited device.
