Police in northern Alberta have arrested and charged a man with murder, after emergency crews were called to a home after noon Wednesday, after a man was found unconscious.

RCMP and paramedics were called to a home in Whitefish River at about 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, after a 21-year-old man was found unconscious by family members.

The man reportedly had visible assault injuries, and paramedics treated him at the scene – but he succumbed to his injuries and died before paramedics could transport him to hospital.

High Prairie RCMP investigated, with help from High Prairie GIS Investigators, the RCMP Edmonton Major Crimes unit and Peace River Forensics Identification Section, and eventually arrested a 19-year-old Whitefish Lake man.

Lucky Darren Thunder, 19, has been arrested and charged with second degree murder.

An autopsy on the victim has been scheduled for Friday.

The accused is expected to appear in court in High Prairie December 30.
