Police in northern Alberta are investigating an early morning fatal hit and run involving a pedestrian north of Fort McMurray.
RCMP said officers were called to a stretch of Highway 63 near Suncor, and north of Fort McMurray, on reports of a fatal hit and run involving a pedestrian.
The affected portion of the highway was closed for several hours Friday; RCMP reopened it to traffic later Friday morning.
Since the investigation began, RCMP said a tip led police to seize a pick-up truck in the Fort McMurray area, with a person of interest being interviewed by police.
At last word, RCMP said investigators were still working to confirm the identity of the man who died in the incident.
