Police are turning to the public for help in identifying a man who allegedly attempted to abduct a 13-year-old girl in Sylvan Lake lateTuesday.

RCMP said that the girl was walking with friends near the Sylvan Lake Municipal Library at approximately 11 p.m. Shortly after going in separate ways, the victim noticed a suspicious vehicle and hid in a nearby bush.

A male driver got out of the suspect vehicle and pulled the girl’s hair, and after a struggle, she was able to break free and run away to safety.

Suspect #1 is described as:

  • Around  5-foot-10
  • 25-30 years old
  • Caucasian
  • Brown hair
  • Khaki pants
  • Black hoodie with zipper in front 
  • Average weight
  • Talked in a low voice
  • Believed to be right handed

Suspect #2, who remained in the car during the incident:

  • Caucasian male

Vehicle:

  • Similar to Kia Optima or a Mitsubishi Lancer
  • Rear windows are tinted
  • Black tires on black rims
  • Loud muffler
