Police are investigating after a woman was found dead in a remote rural area northwest of Grande Prairie on Friday afternoon.

RCMP Major Crimes Unit confirm that Amber Dawn Diebert, 24, was the victim of foul play.

Diebert, who was last seen on December 8, was reported missing to police two days later.

According to investigators, the deceased was an aquaintance of Jody Michelle Topilko, 30, who was last seen on November 29 in Grande Prairie shopping with a family member - RCMP were alerted to her disappearance on December 8.

Officials said it’s not known if the two investigations are linked, but are anxious to confirm Topilko’s whereabouts.

RCMP said the missing woman may be connected to the following vehicle:

  • 2015 black Chevrolet 1500 pickup
  • Alberta licence plate L02 511

Topilko is described as:

  • 160 cm (5’3”) tall
  • 52 kg (115 lbs)
  • Caucasian
  • Brown hair
  • Green eyes
