Alberta RCMP have charged a Saskatchewan man with impaired driving after police said they caught him speeding with six children in the vehicle.

RCMP said they pulled over a minivan on Highway 1 near Suffield Friday night after it was recorded to be traveling 149 kilometres per hour.

The 21-year-old driver was arrested for impaired driving and the officer said he found six children between the ages of eight months and nine years old in the vehicle.

According to police one child was unrestrained in the back of the van.

The man now faces charges of impaired driving, driving with blood alcohol over .08 and criminal negligence.

RCMP and Child and Family Services will continue to investigate.
