Central Alberta RCMP are searching for a suspect, after an armed robbery at a Red Deer restaurant Saturday morning.

Red Deer RCMP said the suspect went into the restaurant in the area of 32 Street and 50 Avenue at about 11 a.m. Saturday, and tried to open a locked cash register.

A staff member discovered the suspect, but he took the key form her, took an undisclosed amount of cash and fled through the back door.

The suspect is described as:

  • Caucasian
  • About 172.5 cm (5’8”) tall
  • Skinny build
  • In his 20s or early 30s

He was reportedly wearing a blue ski mask, a black hooded sweatshirt and black pants, he was carrying a knife with a wooden handle.

No one was injured during the robbery – police released a still from surveillance video showing the suspect.
