The RCMP are asking for the public’s help in locating a 29-year-old man who police believe is armed and a potential danger to the community.
Earlier this week, Whitecourt RCMP were called to a rural road on a report of suspicious activity.
When police arrived, officers found a collection of property along the road, which they later determined to be the makeshift/temporary camp of the wanted individual, Trevor Legge.
Officers recovered two travel trailers and a utility trailer. One of the travel trailers and the utility trailer have since been confirmed by police as stolen.
Police say they cleared the area, but Legge is believed to have left the area before officers arrived.
One witness told police they saw two trucks leaving the area, a red Dodge truck and a green Chevrolet.
Investigators believe Legge may also be in possession of high-powered weapons.
Police say Legge is facing 13 charges stemming from this recent incident as well some previous incidents.
A Canada-wide warrant has been issued for Legge’s arrest.
He is described as:
- 6 feet tall
- 174 pounds
Anyone having information on the whereabouts of Legge is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
