Months after the body of a 27-year-old Calgary woman was found in a Red Deer industrial park, RCMP have arrested and charged a man in connection to the slaying.
On Monday, Red Deer RCMP confirmed that on Friday, officers charged Nathan Desharnais, 24, with second degree murder, and offering indignity to human remains.
Desharnais was charged in connection to the murder of Talia Meguinis, 27.
Meguinis’ remains were found at the Riverside Industrial Park in Red Deer on February 22.
Police believe Meguinis was living in the Calgary area, and arrived in the Red Deer area on February 17.
Investigators said the charges were laid following a seven-month investigation, involving specialized RCMP investigation units from Edmonton, Red Deer, Calgary, and the Tsuu T’ina Nation.
Desharinais is in custody, and has been scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.
Police would not release the cause of death in the case.
