RCMP west of Edmonton said remains found in a remote area near Brule are human.

On Wednesday, Hinton RCMP said Edmonton’s Medical Examiner had confirmed the human remains appeared to belong to an adult male.

At this time, RCMP don’t suspect foul play.

However, investigators are still working with experts to determine the age, identity and manner of death in this case.

Police said investigators will also work with the Alberta Missing Persons and Unidentified Human Remains Project for their knowledge in the field.

The developments come after a group of people riding quads in a remote area found what appeared to be human remains on April 23.

The find was immediately reported to RCMP, who began their investigation.
