In a Wetaskiwin courtroom Friday evening, a judge has found the man accused of shooting two mounties in rural Alberta not guilty on all charges.

Sawyer Robison had been facing charges of attempted murder, assault causing bodily harm and weapons-related charges.

During the February 2012 incident, Constables Sheldon Shah and Sidney Gaudette were wounded as they tried to search a farmhouse located near Killam, southeast of Edmonton.

When the verdict was read, Robison’s supporters applauded in court.

“Finally, I think justice has been done, in what is a very tragic case,” Robison’s lawyer Brian Beresh said outside of court.

His defence had argued it was Robison’s uncle who shot at the officers before turning his gun on himself – however, the Crown had said the bullet patterns were so erratic that there had to have been a second shooter.
