RCMP are investigating two different crashes that occurred on Alberta highways on Sunday, August 30.

At approximately 6:30 a.m., Leduc RCMP were called to a single vehicle collision involving a motorcycle on Township Road 504 and Range Road 270.

According to police, the driver, a 52-year-old Calmar man, was pronounced deadat the scene.

Alcohol and speed are believed to be factors in the crash.  

In a separate incident, a 26-year-old man is in life-threatening condition after a motorcycle collided with a train east of Edson.

At approximately 12:30 p.m. on August 30, RCMP responded to the crash at Range Road 154 near Township Road 542.

According to police, a motorcycle struck the back of the front engine of a westbound train.

The Edson man was taken by ambulance to the University of Alberta Hospital.

RCMP said the railway crossing lights and audible tone were working at the time of the collision.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor.

RCMP continue to investigate both collisions.
