There were plenty of nervous Albertans looking to the dark sky Monday night as a severe storm rolled across parts of central and northern Alberta.

Most of the damage done was in the Tofield area, where funnel clouds were spotted.

Strong winds tossed trees around causing significant damage. Residents in the area said they grew concerned once the winds started to pick up.

“I went to my front window tree starting to blow, my house windows starting to go crazy so I closed all my windows, went to my son's room, saw a funnel cloud and took a picture of it -- got all my kids went downstairs,” said Kyla Bettcher.

Residents are now left to clean up the aftermath of the storm including downed trees.

It’s not known if the funnel cloud actually touched the ground.

There were no reports of any injuries.

Officials in Tofield expect the cleanup to take several days.
