RCMP east of Edmonton said a 21-year-old man had been charged in connection to a fatal crash that left one man dead and three injured on Thursday.

Early Thursday morning, just before 5 a.m., two cars collided on Baseline Road at Brower Drive in Sherwood Park.

RCMP said a 33-year-old Sherwood Park man was pronounced dead at the scene, and two 19-year-old women suffered serious injuries.

Both drivers involved in the crash suffered non-life threatening injuries.

On Friday, police said Jesse James McFawn, 21, of Sherwood Park was facing a total of eight charges, including: dangerous driving causing death, two counts of dangerous driving causing bodily harm, driving while prohibited, and charges of driving an unregistered vehicle, improper use of a licence plate, and driving an uninsured motor vehicle.

McFawn was remanded in custody, and is scheduled to appear in court October 19.
