Strathcona County RCMP are investigating two separate residential break ins that occurred outside of Sherwood Park.

On Monday, October 17 at around 11 a.m. RCMP were called to a property near Range Road 214 and Township Road 534.  The homeowner witnessed a person driving a black pickup truck trying to break into a locked barn and a sea can located on the property. RCMP said the suspect used the truck to ram into a gate to access the trailer. As the suspect was attempting to hook up the trailer, a neighbour showed up and the suspect fled the scene.

Later that day, RCMP were called to a second residence near Range Road 230 and Township Road 521.  The suspect broke into the front door of the home and stole a camera, several watches, jewelry and a safe.

Cst. Chantelle Kelly with Strathcona County RCMP said: "It is not known if these two incidents are related or not."

Witnesses said the suspect was wearing a black balaclava.  The truck is described as a black F-350 Ford with a “headache” rack and light bar. A partial Alberta Plate beginning with "81" was obtained.

Anyone with information about this, or any other crime, is asked to call Strathcona County RCMP at (780) 467-7741, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
