Edmonton police said the suspect at the centre of a theft investigation had been identified, and an arrest warrant had been issued.

Police said Friday that Jasper Halfe, 19, is wanted on warrants for theft, breach of probation and breach of recognizance in connection to the theft of a woman’s cell phone on October 4.

That day, at about 7 a.m., a woman who was waiting for a DATS bus in the area of 16 Avenue and 48 Street when she was approached by the suspect, who asked to borrow her cell phone to call his grandmother.

Police said she reluctantly handed him the phone, and he ran away with it.

Police said Halfe is 177.5 cm (5’10”) tall, and weighs 86 kg (190 lbs).
