RCMP said a teacher with the Elk Island Public School Division is facing sexual offence charges, in connection to a female student.

Police said officers with Strathcona County RCMP received reports over the case on July 5, 2017.

Now, Graeme Patrick Forsyth, 32, has been charged with sexual interference, sexual exploitation, invitation to sexual touching, and sexual assault.

It’s alleged the offences took place between May 1, 2015 and September 1, 2015 – the victim and her family have been offered support from the Strathcona County Victim Services Unit.

The accused has been released on a recognizance, and is under several conditions. He’s scheduled to appear in a Sherwood Park courtroom on August 30, 2017.

Elk Island Public Schools issued a statement shortly after RCMP released details on the case, and said administration had carried out an investigation into the allegations. Now, the accused is no longer in a position to “interact with EIPS students”.
