RCMP have been asked to investigate an alleged assault by a woman on a young hockey player.

The 18-year-old has accused a mother of a player on another team of hitting him with a hockey stick during a tournament in Eckville, Alberta.

"A hockey player had been assaulted by what's alleged to be the parent of another hockey player,” Cpl. James Allemekinders explained.

The victim, from Lethbridge, claims it was a parent from the Vegreville team and said he will be pressing charges.

Although he didn’t want his identity released, he said things got heated inside the arena to the point where the woman hit him with a hockey stick.

"Until we're sure of what exactly happened, until we've reviewed all the statements and the video there won't be any arrest,” Cpl. Allemekinders said.

The parent accused in the incident declined to speak to CTV News.

Eckville is about two hours southwest of Edmonton.
