Days after a young man was stabbed at a north Edmonton transit station, police said a teenaged suspect has been charged.

Police said Tuesday a youth was arrested Friday, October 24 by RCMP near Duffield, Alberta. He can’t be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

The teen is facing charges of aggravated assault, possession of a weapon, and breach of probation.

Officers were first called to the Coliseum LRT Bus Transit Centre on Friday, October 17, at about 6:15 a.m. on reports of an alleged stabbing.

Witnesses said three males got off the same bus at the terminal, before a fight broke out between them and an 18-year-old was stabbed.

Investigators said the quick response from officers and the Edmonton Transit System’s new video surveillance equipment helped in their investigation.
