Tens of thousands of Edmontonians lined the streets in the downtown core for Thursday's Capital Ex parade.
The parade route wound through the heart of downtown Edmonton, starting at 99 Street and 102 Avenue, then continued along 102 Avenue, north along 105 Street, before turning east onto 103 Avenue, and wrapped up on 100 Street.
While the parade started up at 11 a.m., festivities got underway an hour earlier.
With more than 100 entries in this year's parade, spectators of all ages took in a colourful display, representing a number of charities, businesses, and levels of government.
This year's theme is music, so Edmontonians were encouraged to dress as their favourite artist or wear a concert T-shirt.
The parade marshall was legendary Motown musician Jack Ashford, who played with the Grammy-award winning Funk Brothers.
