Nearly a week after RCMP said two people had been charged in connection to a 2011 slaying that left one woman dead, police have arrested and charged a third individual.

Hobbema RCMP announced Tuesday that Wacey Applegarth, 20, was arrested Friday, November 8.

Applegarth joins co-accused Shelby Minde, 20, and Randall Omeasoo, 21 – all three are facing first-degree murder charges.

The charges stem from the shooting death of Chelsea Yellowbird, 23, on September 5, 2011 at the Samson Cree First Nation town site.

RCMP said local residents played a major role in their investigation, providing numerous tips to help investigators.
