Officials with Occupational Health and Safety confirmed to CTV News on Monday that three males injured in an explosion at a Red Deer car wash Friday were still in hospital.

CTV News has learned the three males were transferring chemicals between containers when a flash fire started.

The three workers suffered severe burns, they were taken to Foothills Hospital in Calgary, and the University of Alberta Hospital in Edmonton for treatment, at last word, all were recovering.

OHS said a stop work order had been issued over the chemical used on all or part of the site until conditions are met or the investigation ends.

Officials confirmed investigators were still trying to determine what the chemical was.

OHS is still investigating.
