The Edmonton Valley Zoo had some fun at the expense of the San Jose Sharks on Saturday afternoon, hours ahead of Game 6 in California.

The zoo’s Seasonal Education Program built a cardboard shark and stuffed it with quail bedding, which staff said excites their predator response.

Amba and Taiga took turns mauling the shark, and zoo guests watched from outside the cage.

“We just thought in light of recent Oilers events, that maybe our orange tiger might like some San Jose Shark for lunch,” Edmonton Valley Zoo Seasonal Education Program Assistant Heather Fedyna told CTV News. “This is just a fun thing for our animals to interact with, and of course to show our Edmonton pride, as well."

Tigers and sharks would never fight in real life, but Fedyna said a shark would win, because tigers "like to have naps."

But at the Edmonton Valley Zoo, the tigers dominated and Fedyna hopes the Edmonton Oilers are able to do the same against the San Jose Sharks.
