Environment Canada has received reports of a tornado touching down near Airdrie, Alta. Sunday afternoon.

The report came in at around 4:40 p.m.

Farmers in the area say the tornado touched down for about 30 seconds.

The details of the incident are unclear. It's not known whether anyone was injured or if the tornado caused any damage.

Severe thunderstorm watches were in effect in central and southern Alberta when the apparent tornado touched down.
