ALERT investigators have laid charges against two men; after a massive amount of illicit drugs were seized earlier this week in Fort McMurray.

Officials said the Wood Buffalo Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit (CFSEU-Wood Buffalo), with the help of Wood Buffalo RCMP executed a search warrant on Dec. 12 on Killdeer Way in Fort McMurray.

Officers found more than three kilograms of cocaine, with a street value of more than $300,000, in addition to the following drugs:

  • 993 g of ecstasy, with a street value of $200,000
  • 3 litres of Gamma Hydroxybutyric (GHB), commonly known as the ‘date-rape drug’
  • 400 g each of marijuana and hashish
  • More than 1,000 prescription pills
  • Anabolic steroids in a variety of forms, including 800 bottles of injectable steroids and Human Growth Hormone

In total, the seized drugs had a total street value of $750,000.

In addition, officers found drug trafficking paraphernalia, plus more than $46,000 in cash and a vehicle – all of which was also seized.

Now, ALERT officers have laid charges against Richard Cosman, 31, and Jeromy Laporte, 30.

The accused are facing eight counts each of possession for the purpose of trafficking and one count each of possession of the proceeds of crime over $5,000.

Both men are Fort McMurray residents.
