Officials with the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team (ALERT) said Friday that a variety of drugs, and a luxury vehicle had been seized – and two individuals were facing charges – as part of a drug trafficking investigation.

The drug trafficking investigation started in July 2015, after investigators received information that Khalil Majed trafficking drugs in the Edmonton area.

Search warrants were carried out on September 1, at a downtown Edmonton condo, a home in Castle Downs and two homes in Morinville.

ALERT said Majed, 24, was arrested during a traffic stop after a suspected drug deal was carried out – investigators said he was driving his Porsche Panamera when he was arrested. The vehicle was seized, along with $51,000 in cash proceeds of crime.

The search warrants yielded evidence that was consistent with drug trafficking including 250 grams of cocaine, nearly 800 fentanyl pills, a prohibited collapsible baton and body armour.

The drugs have an estimated street value of $57,000.

Majed is facing the following charges: three counts of possession of the proceeds of crime, two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking and one count each of possession of a weapon and possession of a controlled substance.

In addition, ALERT said Rima Ghosn, 21, was also charged with drug-related offenses.
