Two children and an adult male have died after a crash near Rimbey on Sunday, December 21.

The crash happened on highway 20 near Township Road 420 shortly before 1pm. Investigators believe that a northbound car crossed the centre lane, hitting a southbound SUV.

The lone occupant of the car was pronounced dead at the scene.

A family of five from the Rimbey area was traveling in the SUV. A 7-year-old boy was pronounced dead at the scene. STARS Air Ambulance was brought in to transport another critically injured patient from the SUV, and the other three members of the family were transported by ground ambulance to hospital in Red Deer with serious injuries.

A 3-year-old boy, who suffered critical injuries during the crash, has now passed away at Alberta Children’s Hospital.

RCMP has determined that road conditions played a role in the collision.
