On Sunday, September 21 shortly after 8 p.m. emergency crews were called to the scene of a two vehicle collision on the QEII Highway just south of Red Deer. Police say a sedan lost control and struck a cable barrier which stopped the car from veering into oncoming traffic. But minutes after the accident, a motorcyclist drove into the immobile vehicle and the rider was transported to hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

North bound lanes of the QEII were slowed down for one hour while crews cleared the scene. The driver of the sedan has been charged under the Traffic Safety Act, neither speed nor alcohol have been deemed factors in this collision.
