They've been around since 1972 and have sold 75 million albums worldwide, and on Friday night they took to the stage at Rexall Place.

Van Halen rocked the arena, performing old hits, songs from their new album and covers in front of thousands of fans.

Fan Gord MacDonald traveled hours from Fort MacLeod just to see the band perform.

"[I've] been looking forward to this for the last three months," MacDonald said.

The group is touring to promote their first new album in 14 years.

Van Halen's A Different Kind of Truth was released in February.

They are the 19th best-selling band of all time.
