Edmonton police said Wednesday that the autopsy had been carried out following the discovery of a woman’s body in a north central apartment suite Tuesday.

EPS said the Medical Examiner had confirmed Nadine Skow, 38, had died from multiple stab wounds, and her death had been declared a homicide.

Skow’s body was found inside her apartment in the area of 106 Avenue and 104 Street Tuesday morning.

“The scene was probably one of the most horrific I’ve seen in my career as a police officer, and I’ve been to hundreds, probably a few hundred murder scenes,” Staff Sgt. Bill Clark said.

Investigators said Silva Koshwal, 38, with second degree murder and indignity to a human body.

“That’s the charge of indignity to a human body,” Clark said. “I won’t be able to comment on exactly what was done but unfortunately it’s going to be very shocking.”

Clark said the victim and the accused had been in a common-law relationship for a “few years”, but broke up about a year ago.

It’s believed Koshwal showed up at some point between Sunday night and early Monday morning. Witnesses told CTV News Tuesday they heard a commotion in the apartment.

This is the 13th homicide of 2015.
