Edmonton police have confirmed the cause in the death of a man in his 20s over the weekend, and is asking for help in investigating the incident.

Police said on Sunday, at about 1:30 a.m., officers were called to the area of 104 Street and 81 Avenue, on reports of a shooting.

Officers arrived to find a man, who had been fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene.

On Wednesday, police said an autopsy had been carried out by the Edmonton Medical Examiner Tuesday afternoon, where it was confirmed that Alor Arop Deng, 27, had died from gunshot wounds.

As a result, the death has been confirmed to be a homicide, and the investigation continues.

Police are asking witnesses with information on the incident to come forward, especially anyone who captured the incident on their mobile phone video camera.

“We have information that several people used their mobile phones to video tape what happened at the scene that morning,” Staff Sgt. Brad Goeson said in a press release. “We want those individuals to do the right thing, and come forward to police with information.”
