Edmonton police said Tuesday that a suspicious weekend death near Fox Drive had been deemed a homicide.

On Saturday, October 22 at about 8:30 p.m. officers were called to the Alfred H. Savage Centre near Fox Drive. When police arrived, they found a deceased male.

A 21-year-old male suspect was arrested nearby, but no charges have been laid.

On Tuesday, police said the Edmonton Medical Examiner had conducted an autopsy on the deceased, and confirmed he died as a result of stab wounds.

The deceased has been identified as Christopher Fawcett, 19.

Investigators said the 21-year-old suspect who was arrested remains a person of interest, but he is no longer in custody.
