Edmonton Police said Thursday that charges had been laid against a woman; days after police arrived at a northwest Edmonton apartment building and found a man dead inside.

On May 19, 2016, after 11 p.m., officers with the Edmonton Police Service Northwest Division were called to an apartment near 82 Street and 123 Avenue, and found a 61-year-old deceased man inside.

An autopsy was conducted on Tuesday, and police confirmed the deceased had been identified as Louie De Sousa Sa, 61, and he died as a result of trauma to his upper body.

On Thursday, police said Malory Lajimodiere, 28, had been charged with second degree murder, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Police said the victim and the accused knew each other, and lived in the same home; police are not looking for additional suspects.
