Carmen Leibel


As Health Reporter for CTV Edmonton, Carmen Leibel covers topics ranging from the latest innovations in health care to the inspirational stories of Albertans of all ages.

As the host of the popular segment “Your Health”, Leibel routinely interviews top researchers and medical professionals, offering Edmonton viewers a glimpse at the latest developments in research and health care.

Leibel began her career as a video journalist for CTV News in Yorkton, Sask. She soon made a move to the CTV station in small the neighbouring market of Prince Albert, Sask. where she had the opportunity to cover stories of national interest, including a high profile court case and wildfires that had affected the region. In one of her most memorable reports, Leibel joined Santa on a flight to some of Saskatchewan’s most remote communities to deliver gifts to children.

Born and raised in Edmonton, Leibel set her sights on one day working at the television station she grew up watching. Following the completion of studies in Radio and Television at NAIT in 2003, she was offered a position at CFRN, now known as CTV Edmonton, reaching that lifelong goal.

Leibel is a proud member of the community and dedicates her time to emceeing several events for organizations including the Canadian Breast Cancer Society, the Edmonton Down Syndrome Society, Canadian Blood Services, the MS Society, and Autism Speaks.

In 2014, Leibel was recognized with the Excellence in Media award by the University of Alberta’s Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine. She lives in St. Albert, and is the proud mother of two young daughters.
