Carmen will tell anyone she has the best two jobs in the world. She’s a mother of two little girls, Olivia and Julia, and is CTV Edmonton’s Health Reporter.

Carmen’s passion for storytelling is integral as she covers the “health beat.” She meets inspirational Albertans and innovative researchers and medical professionals every day. She produces, reports and anchors the Your Health segment on CTV Edmonton at 5.

Looking back, Carmen says she’s grateful for where her journalism career began. It was 2002 in Yorkton, Saskatchewan where she started as a videojournalist. She quickly worked her way to Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, a small market where she was given the opportunity to cover national stories involving wildfires and a high profile court case. One story she covered that she will never forget was when she went in an airplane with Santa Claus to deliver gifts to a number of First Nations children in some of Saskatchewan’s most remote communities.

But Carmen had her sights set on the television station she grew up watching and in 2003 was offered a position at CFRN, now CTV Edmonton.

Outside of work, Carmen has also been emcee at several different events for the Edmonton Down Syndrome Society, Canadian Blood Services and the 2012 Child Care Awards.
