Ward Eight

Profile:

Ward Eight stretches from the east edge of Edmonton to the University of Alberta. With the University in this Ward there is a large amount of students living in the area during the school year. This Ward is made up of older neighbourhoods including Capilano, Bonnie Doon and Strathcona. Whyte Avenue runs directly through this Ward and there have been plenty of changes to the popular street during this term with many more to come in the future including the development of a large piece of land currently up for sale.

Key Issues:

A big issue here is schools. There are several proposed school closures in the Ward. While this is a school board issue, residents want to see their councillor stick up for them. There are also several older neighbourhoods so infill and poor roads are big talkers in this Ward.
