Ward Two

Profile:

Ward Two has plenty of mature neighbourhoods to the south east but to the west the Ward is primarily industrial. Much of the mature neighbourhoods are now being rejuvenated with new infills. A large portion of the Ward is occupied by the Edmonton Municipal Airport land soon to be redeveloped.

Population: 68,558
Eligible voters: 53,268
Neighbourhoods: 41
Councillor: Kim Krushell (since 2004)

Key Issues:

Ward Two has been in front of council during the last term and for years before that. A major issue in the Ward continues to be the Edmonton Municipal Airport. There has been plenty of pushback from residents but the current council will vote on a final date for the airport. Despite that, it is sure to continue to be an election topic as the question turns to how to compensate stakeholders and how to develop the land left over.
