A quest for beer: Edmonton-area breweries concoct unique ales for beer-themed scavenger hunt
A beer-centric scavenger hunt is coming to tickle the taste buds of brew lovers across Alberta this week.
The Northern Alberta Brewers Alliance (NABA), a coalition of local brewers, has announced the return of the "Wyrd Bier Adventure" – an event celebrating unique and unconventional craft beers.
Beer buffs are invited to try the weird concoctions created by 19 tap rooms throughout the greater Edmonton area and collect "concert ticket stubs" – much like a passport stamp – in order to complete the quest.
By collecting 16 of the 19 stubs available, beer enthusiasts will receive Wyrd Bier chalice to commemorate the scavenger hunt – perfect for drinking beer out of. There are only 400 chalices available to claim.
If the chalice isn't enough, contestants can earn their stripes by heading to all 19 breweries and collecting their stubs for the ultimate prize, the Medal of Absolute Coolness. Only 100 medals are primed for the taking.
To complete the quest, beer drinkers will need to head over to Analog Brewing Company located at 8620 53 Ave. and claim the prize.
No prizes will be given before Jan. 17.
The initiative put on by NABA supports breweries through collaboration by bringing in more business to smaller breweries.
