Additional sexual assault charges laid against Edmonton massage therapist
Additional charges have been laid against an Edmonton massage therapist and police are still searching for more complainants.
Pepito Manalo, 55, was charged with three counts of sexual assault on Jan. 2.
Manalo was charged with one count of sexual assault in November after a woman accused him of assaulting her at a physiotherapy clinic in Mill Woods during a massage in October.
Manalo has been released from custody with conditions to:
- not contact or communicate with any of the complainants;
- not visit the complainants’ residences, places of employment, education or worship;
- not practice massage therapy on women;
- not access the medical or personal records of any of the complainants;
- comply with any of the conditions imposed by any massage regulatory body; and
- not offer massage therapy from his home-based business.
Police believe Manalo may still be practising massage and may have assaulted other people.
"Police are continuing to encourage others to come forward so we can connect them to resources to support their healing. We are here to help," Det. Kamlesh Patel said in a Tuesday news release.
Anyone with information about Manalo is asked to call the Edmonton Police Service at 780-423-4567 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
The Certified Registered Massage Therapist Association, the governing body for the industry, has cancelled Manalo's registered massage therapist license.
