ASIRT investigating police shooting in Fort McMurray

A person was shot by a Mountie in Fort McMurray on Thursday.

According to Alberta RCMP, the Mountie was attacked while checking out a disturbance at a home on Siltstone Place.

"While ensuring that everyone was safe in the residence, an altercation ensued and an officer was attacked. As a result, the officer discharged their service weapon," Albert RCMP said in a statement.

The person shot was seriously hurt and taken to hospital.

The officer sustained minor injuries.

The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team will investigate.
