The baby found in a south Edmonton parking lot last weekend died before birth.

The body of the baby was discovered in the area of Parsons Road and Ellerslie Road at around 2:15 p.m. on Saturday.

An autopsy found the baby died before it was born but the cause and manner of death are still pending more tests.

"Police do not believe the death is connected to any area businesses at this time," the Edmonton Police Service wrote in a release.

The EPS Homicide Section is investigating.
