A routine wellness visit in Tay Township turned into an act of community service when Southern Georgian Bay OPP officers helped an 85-year-old woman in need.

On Saturday afternoon, officers arrived at the senior's home to conduct a wellness check to ensure her well-being. Upon arrival, they noticed snow piling up around her property and decided to lend a hand...a hand cloaked in a warm glove.

What began as a simple check transformed into a snow-shoveling session. Provincial constable Legacy and provincial constable Villeneuve cleared the huge snow pile up, ensuring her home was safe and accessible for her.

In a lighthearted statement, police confirmed that “all checked out okay” and added, “A little community service cardio for the officers.”

Pictures reveal that the snow on her property sat around knee level. Southern Georgian Bay experienced significant snowfall over the past week, according to Environment Canada they reached up to 40 centimetres of snow.
