RCMP in Beaumont are investigating after receiving reports of a man who appeared to be committing an indecent act, in public, over the weekend.

Police said officers received reports surrounding the activities of an unidentified man Saturday, October 26.

A group of pre-teen girls reported to RCMP that they had first seen the man in question earlier that afternoon, near the Aqua-fit Centre on 50 Avenue, and he was reportedly acting suspiciously – he had reportedly watched them for a while, and walked by them twice without talk to them.

The same girls said that later on, at about 3 p.m., they saw the same man near the Four Seasons Park area, and from a distance he appeared to be committing an indecent act.

The man left a short time later when a jogger approached.

The man is described as:

  • Caucasian
  • About 177 cm (5’10”) tall
  • Late 20s
  • Skinny build, with a belly roll at his waistline
  • Oval face, with a pointy chin
  • Glasses

The man was wearing a black baseball cap, black sweater, white t-shirt, dark jeans, and was carrying a black single-strap bag.

RCMP said the incident appears to be isolated, as no other similar events were reported to police – the details of what the man appeared to be doing is being withheld as the incident is under investigation.

Anyone with information that could help RCMP identify the man is asked to call Beaumont RCMP at780-929-7410, or 780-929-7400 – and anonymous tips can be submitted to Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
