The body of Dianne McClements, 61, was found in a Camrose duplex where she had been working with teens.
The 61-year-old, who had years experience working with children and teens, was most recently working at an assisted living facility for teens in Camrose.
Police in Camrose have laid charges against a teenager in connection to the weekend death of McClements.
Investigators were called to the Marler Supported Independent Living facility in Camrose at around 9 p.m. Saturday night. Upon arrival, officers found the woman's body.
On Monday, police arrested and charged a 17-year-old male - who is a resident of the facility - with second-degree murder, as well as theft of the victim's vehicle.
Officers say the youth was found in the victim's car about a two hour drive away in the town of Vermilion.
The exact cause of the woman's death is still not known, the Medical Examiners office planned to conduct an autopsy Tuesday.
The teen charged remains in custody. He will make his first court appearance in Camrose youth court on Thursday, June 7.
This is the second time in just over a year a female assisted care worker has been killed in the community of Camrose.
Valerie Wolski, 41, was strangled by a man in her care while working with the Canadian Mental Health Association in February, 2011.
Terrence Saddleback, 26, was charged with manslaughter in Wolski's death but later found unfit to stand trial.
