Brazeau County officials said a wildfire that started last week is now considered under control, and things are returning to normal for residents in the area affected.

Early Monday morning, officials said a wildfire that had been burning west of the community of Lindale was under control.

As a result, evacuation notices for residents had been lifted and any road blocks or speed limit reductions had been removed.

About 200 residents of the rural area west of Lindale were evacuated, and about 200 more were placed on evacuation notice Wednesday, May 22, after officials discovered flames in the area of Range Road 55 and Township Road 500.

By Friday, officials had lifted the evacuation order, although many of those residents remained on notice – the blaze was considered held Friday afternoon.
