Strathcona County RCMP have arrested a charged an Edmonton man in connection to an aggravated assault that sent one man to hospital on Sunday.

According to police, at about 3:30 a.m. officers were called to a rural residence near Highway 21 and Township Road 512 in Sherwood Park to investigate a report of an assault with a weapon.

RCMP arrived to discover a victim suffering from an apparent stab wound as a result of an altercation – the victim was taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Jesse David Hughes, 25, faces six counts of aggravated assault and one count of “failing to comply with recognizance”.

Hughes remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in Sherwood Park provincial court on June 29.
