City police have laid charges against one man and a trio of youths in relation to a stabbing incident at a shopping centre in south Edmonton earlier this month.

Officers responded to reports of a fight between two groups at the mall in Mill Woods, near 23 Avenue and 66 Street, shortly after 11:00 am on March 17. They found an 18-year-old man in the food court suffering from stab wounds.

Police say Allen Michael Quintal, 21, has since been charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon and breach of probation.

A 14-year-old boy has been charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon and breach of probation. Another male, also 14, has been charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon and possession of stolen property and a 16-year-old boy has been charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon and breach of recognizance.

Police say this appears to be a random incident as the two groups are not known to each other.
