A 70-year-old woman is in hospital with life threatening injuries after being struck while crossing the road east of West Edmonton Mall on Wednesday evening.
Around 7:45 p.m. the woman was crossing a marked crosswalk at 169 St. and 87 Ave. when she was struck by a 2013 Nissan Altima. Investigations revealed that the vehicle was north bound turning west onto 87 Ave. at the time of the collision.
The pedestrian suffered multiple serious injuries and remained in hospital in critical condition. Police said speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the collision.
Charges are pending against the 47-year-old male driver of the Nissan.
