RCMP said crews were still on the scene of a weekend rollover that left crude oil along the side of the highway on Tuesday.

Boyle RCMP said on Sunday, at about 10 a.m.  a semi-tractor with two trailers was heading south on Highway 831 about 15 kilometres south of Boyle, when the semi hit the west ditch, and rolled, causing the tanker trailers carrying crude oil to rupture.

Emergency crews were called, including police, paramedics, and firefighters from Boyle, and Thorhild County Emergency Services were called to the scene – the driver suffered minor injuries in the crash.

The semi-tractor was recovered Monday – HAZMAT and Alberta Environment crews were on the scene to begin spill cleanup.

As a result of the continued cleanup efforts, one lane of the highway was open, to alternating traffic.

RCMP are investigating the crash.
